So after a slew of renderings, Mercedes-Benz decided to unveil the very rare SLR McLaren 722 S convertible this week. This German beauty will certainly become one the fastest drop tops in the world with competition coming from the 602-hp Bentley Continental GTC Speed. The McLaren features a 650-hp supercharged 5.5L V8 engine sustaining speeds of 200+mph, with a custom roll cage becoming a wise investment. 627 lb-ft of torque accompanies a zero to 62 in 3.7 seconds and top out speed at 208mph. Production is limited to 150 models with a price tag in the $500,000′s.mercedes mclaren

Yes this is old news, but i've finally had time to add this car to the wallpaper section. The Mercedes McLaren SLR 722 Edition you see here is an homage to the race winning car driven by Stirling Moss in a 300 SLR at the Mille Miglia in 1955. That car was number 722 which refers to the start time of 7:22 am that morning.

This new SLR 722 is powered by a 650hp supercharged V8 and does 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds. Limited to 150 units, this SLR adds more carbon bits inside and out and full 722 badging all around. Improvments in suspension tuning as well as a slight weight reduction give this hammer even more finesse then before. Continue reading for press release and wallpapers.

McLaren has been producing the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren since 2004, but only now has supercar-tuning specialist Mansory decided to modify gull wing racer and transform it into the new ‘Renovatio’. For the latest release, not only was the car fitted with a number of custom aero pieces, the engine too has been upgraded with a new supercharger while the interior also gets a revamp. The first task for engineers was to reduce the weight of the SLR. To do this, components were replaced with lighter units. The stock wheels, for instance, were swapped with ultra-light forged units, while many of the car’s body parts were replaced with lighter carbon-fiber pieces. One component of the new bodykit is the front apron, which has been designed to channel air to a pair of uprated intercoolers mounted behind the front bumper. Completing the kit is a pair of new side skirts and rear wheel arch extensions. A new rear apron with an integrated diffuser takes care of additional downforce and gives the modded SLR more of a race car look. The 5.5L V8 engine with its standard 626hp is upgraded to the tune of 700hp and 880Nm thanks to a new supercharger and intercooler kit. As a result the Renovatio is two tenths faster from zero to 100km/h than the production model, while top speed climbs to 340km/h.Inside, the car gets plenty of leather and carbon-fiber trim, as well as new aluminum pedals and illuminated door tread plates.
